2023 PRESIDENCY: WE PRAY FOR CHANGE, BUT REJECTS CHANGE WHEN IT COMES  By Hon. Madus Mathias Change is the only thing that seems constant in life. Change occur every moment. To the good and to the bad ones, change is inevitable! Time and season are being experienced through change as there is time and season for everything. The good pray for change, likewise the bad. Amazingly, God is always ready to make several changes for the good interest of humanity.  However, it's sad to note that when the very change will pray for come we start rejecting it. What a scene! What a drama!! In the case of Nigeria as a nation, what is our hindrance? Is it the leaders, elites or the masses that hinders change? Or does it mean we don't recognize the change when it comes. We all prayed for change but when it came, we all ran away, disassociating one's-self from it. What is the problem? Corruption begins at campaign rallies:  _A governor's assistant participating in rallies worries that it's at campaign rallies that political corruption begins._  By Hon. Madus Mathias I am writing this based on real life experience, not with any sentiment. I therefore call on all leaders to treat this issue with every sense of seriousness. I make the following observations on things that happen at political rallies. 1. Eye Service:  At political campaigns and rallies, we see eye service at its worst. What I describe as the highest level of sycophancy will be on display to catch the fancy of prospective incoming candidates. 2. United we divide: We find people looking united when we know they are so divided among themselves. Groups against groups. Friends against friends. The result is unbelievable favouritism, clannishness, nepotism and discrimination against fellow party members. 3. Self-centredness: High level of self-centredness is in full display. This is where

February 23rd 2022 will be a remarkable day in my life. My day of political turning point. That will mark one year when God used the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi to give me a solid footing in the political space by appointing me his Special Assistant (SA). Amazingly, a non-indeginous Youth from Afikpo-North (Amasiri to be precise), Ebonyi State serving at such capacity in another State, for me is a rare privilege which I have never taken, nor will ever take for granted. Since I started serving under Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, I have continued to enjoy peace of mind and peace of work as he continues struggling to keep Enugu State under a calm and peaceful atmosphere. Thank you Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for making me a pride to Ebonyi people both home and abroad.
